Subject: PTT or TTL (Analogue or digital)
Hi Tk,

At the moment i am working on a maho 300c milling machine

And i want to buy a new lineaire encoder:
http://www.renishaw.nl/media/pdf/en/9abe665f4cf84acba38390d354a391f4.pdf

At page 14 i can choice PTT or TTL signals, witch one is the best choice? (Analogue or digital)

Which settings do need for my Kanalog kard?

And what is my "receiver clock frequency(MHz)"?

Thank you very match,

Frank

Hey,

I found a match cheaper one;
http://www.stappenmotor.nl/Datasheets/CNC%20lineare%20encoder/CNC%20lineare%20encoder.pdf

But it has only a A and B signal no - signals.
Can you give me the settings for those 3 options?

Thank you,

Hi Frank,

You would want the digital encoder outputs not analog.  Differential signals (A+,A-,B+,B-) are preferred because they are less noise sensitive and can be connected right to Kanalog's screw terminals.   If you only have single ended signals (A,B) they can be connected directly to KFLOP (bypassing the differential to single ended receivers on Kanalog).  Unplug JP5 from Kanalog and feed the encoders into KFLOP there.  A terminating resistor to ground of around 150 ohms will help dampen signal ringing.  Another option is to use cable modules that convert single ended signals to differential signals.  I think USDigital and Digikey sell these for $10~15.

KFLOP's encoder inputs count at a maximum of 1.25 MHz.  Configure the Axis Channel as input type Encoder and set the InputChan0 setting for the encoder input that it is wired to.  JP5 has encoder inputs 4 through 7.

Regards
TK
